Newmarket-on-Fergus is a thriving community with a population of over 5,000 in County Clare. It is 13 kilometres from Ennis, 8 kilometres from Shannon Airport and 24 kilometres from Limerick.
Historically known as Cora Chaitlin ( Kathleen’s Weir) , it is a union of seven ancient parishes: Bunratty, Fenloe, Kilnasoolagh, Drumline, Clonloghan, Kilconry and Kilmaleery.
In a survey carried out by the Community Forum Group in 2020, residents mentioned the good quality of life and community spirit and rated it as a good place for families with good facilities including schools, a crèche and sports facilities, beautiful countryside, scenic walks and historic landmarks as well as being reasonably well served by local community and commercial facilities including pubs, restaurants and hotels.
